Angels

Before you continue with your exploration of angels,
take a second to sign up for my monthly SpiritZine.

What are angels anyway? They are beings of light.

They live in a dimension somewhere above our dimension and somewhere below God's dimension. We have been aware of their presence for thousands of years. Sometimes they're called 'helpers' or 'messengers'. To us, they seem to be itinerant - they are not always around. They come and they go. Or at least that's the way it seems to us. But maybe they're always around even though most of us can't always see them or hear them or feel them. Although there are some of us who can and do hear and see them as you'll see when you read the stories below.

It seems that there are many different types. Some of them are sweet little beings which we think of as being the guardians of our children. Others are fierce warriors like Michael.

or healers like Raphael.

According to the Catholic church, there are actually 9 classes of angels; Seraphim, Cherubim, Thrones, Dominions, Virtues, Powers, Principalities, Archangels and Angels. The single word, angel, refers to all of them.

They have held the interest of people over the years because it seems that through them, we can reach God. After all, we say, if an angel can carry a message from God to us, then it can carry one from us back to God.

The most familiar one is our guardian angel. Many of us are taught from the time we are tiny that we have a special guardian watching over us. It makes us feel safe to feel that presence. Maybe we only imagine it. But maybe it is real. Many people have a special relationship with their guardian being. Some can feel the flutter of their wings close by. Others can hear the voices of their guardians throughout the day. Sometimes the voices are actually audible and sometimes they are felt within in a way that's very difficult to describe to anyone who doesn't experience the same thing.

Sometimes the guardians appear in dreams with messages which, if you are lucky, you will remember upon awakening. I've always thought that even if you don't remember the messages, you will retain the lesson learned from the encounter with your guardian in the dream state.

In western society, angels seem to have a certain physical configuration. They are either small with very pretty faces and fairly small wings which don't seem like they would actually be very useful for flying or they are mighty beings with wings which could carry them to the moon and back. Sometimes they look male and other times they look female. But generally, unlike us humans, gender just doesn't seem to matter to them. Other cultures might see them quite differently. Maybe they don't have wings at all. It may be that Tara and Quan Yin in Buddhist cultures and the kachinas and the shalako in Native American cultures are beings that those in a Judeo-Christian culture would call angels.

Who or whatever they are, we seem to love them or the idea of them. I, for one, would not like to think that my wonderful guardians had left me for even one second. The angel whisper is a voice that some people can hear when they are really listening. If you listen hard enough and often enough, perhaps you will hear it also. In their voices, there are gentle lessons for all of us.

Living With the Presence...

CHAPTER ONE - The Visitation

At the end of November 1998, I received a wonderful cassette in the mail from a dear friend. The tape was entitled, "Healing with the Angels," by Dr. Doreen Virtue. It brought hope that, possibly, the those beings could help improve my health. While listening to it, I was deeply relaxed, and felt wonderful, but didn't have much recall of what I heard and I fell into a deep sleep.

It was the morning of December 12, 1998. My husband and I sat down on our couch together in our living room, taking a few moments to relax with each other. My heart was holding fear, knowing that the pain in my kidneys had returned this morning. How was I going to sell shoes today at the department store where I worked? I closed my eyes and went into contemplation; a few moments later a woman appeared. She had long black hair and large black eyes; the whites of her eyes were very large. Her dress was white, long, and flowing.

Elissa Gae: Technologies From the Angelic Realm

by Randy Peyser

Six adults sat in a Chicago classroom listening to a lecture, when all of a sudden the fragrance of roses mysteriously filled the room. Simultaneously, each participant felt the presence of a beautiful, scintillating energy overtake them, washing their energy fields with light. It was The Divine Mother, making her presence known through channel and teacher, Elissa Gae.

Although, Elissa, an intuitive healer, can’t remember a time when Spirit wasn’t an integral part of her life, it wasn’t until at age forty, after the death of her father, that she consciously began channeling. Says Elissa, “My father’s death was a turning point. I started having wild dreams in crystal caves, which were actual atunements from my guides. During one of these dreams I was told to see a channel in Washington state.”
