There is a science of getting rich. It is an exact science just like mathematics or biology. There are laws which govern the process of getting rich and once you learn and obey these laws, you will get rich. I say this with complete certainty.
Acquiring money and property comes as the result of following these laws and those who do follow these laws, either on purpose or by accident, will get rich. While those who do not follow these laws, no matter how hard they work or how competent they are, will remain poor.
The universal law of attraction states that like will always attract like. So anyone who learns to attract things in a CERTAIN WAY will invariably get rich. Getting rich is not a matter of being in a certain environment. Otherwise everyone in a particular neighborhood or a certain city would be rich. Or whole families would get rich equally but we know they don’t.
Everywhere we look there are the rich and the poor living practically side by side. There are people in the same profession, people doing the same work. Do these people always get rich? We know they don’t. There are people in the same business on the same street even. Are they equally wealthy? They’re not. And we see it all the time. Could it be that the people who remain poor are doing thing differently from those who are getting rich?
And it’s not just that those who get rich have a certain talent. There are very many talented people in the world who remain poor. And there are those with little talent who get rich.
So if you look at people who have gotten rich, you’ll probably find that, in general, they’re no smarter, no more talented and possess no greater abilities than those who remain poor. They just happen to do things in a CERTAIN WAY.
Getting rich is not a result of saving money. Many penny pinchers are poor while their big spending neighbors are rich.
And getting rich doesn’t happen simply because certain people do things that others fail to do. You can frequently see two people in the same business, doing the exact same things the exact same way while one gets rich and the other remains poor.
So we have to come to the conclusion that getting rich is the result of doing things in a CERTAIN WAY. Then, if that is the case, anyone who does things in that CERTAIN WAY is bound to become rich. If the same cause always produces the same effect, anyone who does things in that CERTAIN WAY is bound to become rich and that brings the matter of becoming rich within the boundaries of an exact science.
Well then, you say, this CERTAIN WAY must be so difficult that only a few people are able to accomplish it. But if you really think about it, you know this can’t be true. People with great talent get rich and completely untalented people get rich. Smart people get rich and not so smart people get rich. Strong people get rich and weak people get rich. Healthy people get rich and sick people get rich.
Of course, a reasonable degree of ability to think and understand the workings of the world is required but anyone who can read and understand these words already meets that requirement.
And, as for environment, location does count for something. You wouldn’t try to start a business in the middle of the mountains of Antarctica. You do need access to a reasonable number of people for a business to be successful. So you need to be where people are. But, in general, as far as environment goes, if anyone in your city or town or family can get rich, then so can you – if you understand how to do it and actually APPLY what you understand.
It is not a matter of choosing a particular business or profession. There are rich people in all businesses and professions while their co-workers and next door neighbors working in the same business remain poor.
Now, you’ll probably do better if you choose a business which you like and one in which you already have well-developed talents. You’ll also want be sure the business is suited to your location. Don’t try to open a salmon canning factory in Puerto Rico where there are no salmon. And trying to sell snow ploughs in the middle of Los Angeles will also be an uphill battle. But all this is simply a matter of common sense which you probably already have plenty of or you wouldn’t be reading this book right now.
Putting these general limitations aside, getting rich doesn’t mean that you need to be in any particular business. It just means that you need to learn to do things in a CERTAIN WAY. No matter what business you’re in right now, if anyone else in the same business is getting rich and you’re not, it’s only because you’re not doing things the same way the other person is doing them.
Not having capital right now will not prevent you from getting rich. It is true that as you get capital, your business will grow faster. But anyone who already has capital does not have to think about these things. No matter how little money you have, if you begin to do things in a CERTAIN WAY, you will begin to get rich and you will begin to have capital. Getting capital is just a part of the process of getting rich and it will happen invariably for anyone who does things in a CERTAIN WAY.
You may have little money and be deeply in debt. Maybe you don’t have friends, influence or resources. But if you begin to do things in this CERTAIN WAY, you will, without doubt, begin to get rich; for, as we said earlier, like causes will produce like effects. If you have no capital, you can get capital. If you are in the wrong business, you can get into the right business. And if you are in the wrong location, you can go to the right location.
You can do all of this by just beginning where you are, in your present business or profession and in your present location. When you do things in a CERTAIN WAY, you will have success. You must begin to live in harmony with the laws which govern the universe. And when you do that, you cannot fail.
