Chapter 9 - The Science of Getting Rich

In the process of using what you’ve learned about getting rich in a SCIENTIFIC way, it is most important to realize that you do not have the right to apply your will power to anyone or anything outside yourself. It is simply wrong to try to force anyone to do your will in order to accomplish what you want to accomplish. It is just as wrong to try to coerce anyone mentally as it is to try to coerce them physically.

If compelling someone to do your will physically can be considered slavery, then the same thing applies to compelling them mentally to do your bidding. If taking something from someone physically is considered robbery, then taking things by mental force is also robbery. In principle, there is no difference.

You have no right to use your will power upon another person, even “for his own good,” for you do not know what that might really be. The science of getting rich does not require you to apply power or force to any other person, in any way whatsoever. There is not the slightest necessity for doing so. Indeed, any attempt to use your will upon others will only result in you defeating your own purpose. You do not need to apply your will to things in order to compel them to come to you. That would simply be trying to coerce God and would be foolish and useless. You do not have to try to compel God to give you good things, any more than you have to use your will power to make the sun rise.

You do not need to use your will power to force an unfriendly universe to have your best interest in mind. The all-that-is is friendly to you and is so anxious to give you what you want. It is probably more anxious to give you what you want than you are to receive it.

To get rich, you only need to focus your will power upon yourself.

When you know what to think and what to do (and you do know if you’re reading this book) then you only need to convince yourself to do the right things. This is the only way you need to use your will power – to keep yourself on the right track. Just use your will power to keep yourself thinking and acting in the CERTAIN WAY.

Keep your mind to yourself. It’ll accomplish more there than it will anywhere else. You don’t need to project your mind anywhere else or have it act on anyone else. Just hold on to the feeling of WHAT YOU WANT and hold that vision with FAITH and PURPOSE. That will keep your mind going in the right direction.

Keep your purpose and faith steady and continuous. For it is that steady and continuous faith that will take you most rapidly toward what you are trying to create.

Your desire, held firmly in mind with faith and purpose, is absorbed by the formless substance and permeates it with great depth – to the very heart of the universe as far as you know.

And as this desire seeps its way through the all-that-is, things start to move toward its creation. Every tiny speck of formless substance, even the smallest element of the divine matrix underlying everything in your awareness is stirred into the movement which will bring to you what you want to create. The minds of people everywhere will start to move in such a way as to promote the fulfillment of your desire. Your very desire and the intensity with which it is held will move the universe to your doorstep bearing the gift that you are creating.

These words are so easy to verify. To see them in action, all you need to do is to start a negative thought pattern. Impress the universe with this negative pattern and watch it manifest in your life. Perhaps you’d like to live in fear. Just start doing it. As soon as you do, all sorts of fearful things will begin to appear in your life. Or maybe it’s anger you’d like to put to the test. Go out into the world with anger as your motivator and see what you get back from the world. See just how easy it is to create what you are holding your attention on.

What you believe is so important that it is in your best interest that you carefully determine what you are thinking about since your beliefs are shaped by what you are thinking about and what you are observing in your life – what you are giving your attention to.

And here is where your free will comes into play. By your free will, you will determine where your attention will go. Do you really want to get rich? Then don’t study poverty. You don’t create something by placing your attention on its opposite. You’ll never get healthy as long as your attention is focused on illness. You’ll not acquire that new house as long as you’re in the depths of despair over where you’re now living. You’ll not get rich as long as you think poor.

Medicine as a science of disease has increased disease; religion as a science of sin has promoted sin; economics as a study of poverty has filled the world with wretchedness and poverty. Do not talk about poverty, do not investigate it, or concern yourself with it. Never mind what its causes are; you have nothing to do with them. What concerns you is the cure. Do not spend your time in so-called charitable work or charity movements; most charity only tends to perpetuate the wretchedness it aims to eradicate. It’s not that you should be hard-hearted or unkind and refuse to hear the cry of need, but you must not try to eradicate poverty in any of the conventional ways. Put poverty behind you, and put all that pertains to it behind you, and “make good.”

Get rich. That is the best way you can help the poor.

If you’re keeping your mind on poverty and all the ills which come with it, you’ll never get rich. Don’t read about these things. Don’t talk about them or listen to others talk about them. Your knowledge of them will not make them go away. But it will distract you from getting rich.

What will really do away with poverty is not putting pictures of it in your mind. It would be much better to show others how to bring wealth and abundance into their lives and you can do that when you’ve brought them into your own life.

Don’t think that you’re deserting those who live in poverty when you refuse to think about their misery. Poverty can be done away with not by increasing the number of rich people who think about it but by increasing the number of poor people who get rich. Charity will not raise people out of poverty. Inspiration will do that. Sure, charity will fill their bellies as they remain in their misery. But inspiration can help them get out of a miserable situation. If you want to help the poor, show them that they become rich. Prove it by doing it yourself.

The only way in which poverty will ever be banished from this world is by getting a large and constantly increasing number of people to practice the teachings of this book. People must be taught to become rich by creation, not by competition.

Anyone who gets rich by competition keeps someone else from getting rich. But anyone who gets rich using the creative techniques taught in this book simply opens the door for others to follow. And not only that, others are actually actively inspired to follow these methods.

You are not showing a lack of compassion when you refuse to pity the poor. You are not displaying ignorance of the “real world” when you refuse to place your attention on poverty. What you ARE doing is using your incredible mind and attention to bring to you the very things you are trying to create and which, if everyone did, would also bring them the things they want to create in their own lives.
