Chapter 12 - The Science of Getting Rich

Using your thought processes as described in previous chapters, you must begin to do what you can do from where you are. And from where you are, you must do ALL than you can do.

Unless you have completely fulfilled the requirements of your present place in life, you will not move forward. Until you become larger than where you now are, you will not be able to expand into the new life you are working to create for yourself. Advancement is achieved only by those who have achieved more than what is required of them in their current place in life.

If you do not fulfill the requirements of your present place in life, then you become dead weight on society – on everyone around you who must now carry your burden as well as their own. The progress of the world is slowed down by those who do not add as much as they can to its advancement. These people belong to a former cultural age which is rapidly disappearing from the planet. A society cannot grow and advance when those in it play a role smaller than the one they could play if they only expended a small amount of effort.

In the business world, new and higher positions in a company are created when employees outgrow their current positions. In a society, when families outgrow their current homes, new and larger homes are created for them to support that growth. And this characteristic applies also to you as an individual. For you to get rich, you must apply this principle to yourself. You must outgrow your current place in life before a new one can be created for you.

Most days are some combination of success and failure. Days which are made up of mostly successes are the days which get you what you want. If your days are made up of failures, you’ll never be able to move to the next level, to get what you want. When your days are filled with successes, you can’t help to get what you want and if what you want is to get rich, you’ll get rich.

Keep in mind that you cannot predict the consequences of even the most trivial of acts. If something appears before you to be done, do it. You have no idea of the workings of the universe on your behalf. You have no idea what may be set in motion for you by following up on the seemingly most trivial of things. It could be that very small thing which seems to your conscious mind to be of no consequence at all which would open the door to your riches.

So, every day, do ALL that can be done that day. This is not to say, however, that you are to overwork yourself. Do only today’s work today. Save tomorrow’s work for tomorrow. It’s not that you want to do the most you can in the shortest amount of time. It’s not a race to see how many things you can do in one day. Your intention is to work efficiently and to make sure that each piece of today’s work you do today is done in the most efficient way it can be done.

An action done inefficiently which turns out unsuccessfully can be counted as a failure. On the other hand, efficiently completed actions which turn out successfully are counted as successes. When each of your days is filled with these successes then your whole life can be counted a success.

So then the issue is whether or not you can make each individual act you do a success. And you CAN do this. Everything you do can be successful because the all-that-is is working with you and the all-that-is cannot fail. The universe is constantly extending its gift of well-being to you. When you accept that gift, hold to your vision and put the whole power of your FAITH and VISION into it, you cannot help but succeed.

It is here that those who separate mental power from personal action move in the wrong direction. When the power of mind is used in a CERTAIN WAY in one place and at one time, and in another way in another place and at another time, an inconsistent message is being presented to the universe. So all their acts are not successful in themselves; too many of them are inefficient. But if ALL power goes into every act, no matter how commonplace, every act will be a success in itself. And since it is the nature of things that every success opens the way to other successes, your progress toward what you want and the progress of what you want toward you will become increasingly rapid.

Success is cumulative. Remember that. Remember also that the desire for more is inherent in all things. And when you begin to move toward a larger life, more things will begin to move toward you. When that happens, the influence of the desire is multiplied. So, do all you can each day, be efficient in your actions and allow more life to move toward you as quickly as possible.

It was stated earlier that you must hold to your vision while you are doing each act of your daily life. Now, that’s not to say that you must constantly be envisioning the end result in all its details. Use your leisure time to contemplate your vision until the details of what you are firmly fixed in your mind. And if you really want speedy results, then at first spend nearly all your time doing this. It’s up to you to determine how fast you want to move and how fast you want the well-being of the universe to flow towards you. The more you do this contemplation, the more quickly and firmly you will impress your vision upon the mind of the all-that-is. Then during the time you are working at your current task, you will only need to momentarily place your attention upon your desire to revitalize the intention in the all-that-is, to feel within yourself the delight and joy of your vision accomplished and to cause yourself to continue to put forth your best efforts to attain it.

Let’s look again at the underlying premise of all we’ve learned so far and change it slightly to include new material just learned.

There is a thinking stuff from which all things are made, and which, in its original state, permeates, penetrates and fills the interspaces of the universe. A thought in this substance produces the thing that is imaged by the thought. You can form things in your thought, and, by impressing your thought upon formless substance, can cause the thing you think about to be created. In order to do this, you must pass from the competitive to the creative mind. You must form a clear mental picture of the things you want, and must do — with faith and purpose — all that can be done each day, doing each separate thing in an efficient manner.
