A ghost is the spirit of a dead person. Ghosts are often depicted as haunting places, especially houses where murders have occurred. Why some murder victims would stick around for eternity to haunt a place, while others seem to evaporate is one of the great mysteries of existence better left to literary types to ponder. We can just view a ghost as the spirit remnants of a departed soul - remnants which haven't yet, for some reason, completely made their transition. A ghost is usually benign presence in a room or a house. And the ghost may be from an animal as easily as it can be from a human being.
