Gratitude Journal by Meg Colby

Gratitude is a crazy thing. We feel it. We know when we're grateful. We know how to express our gratitude. But here's the crazy part. We just don't do it often enough.

I wonder why not? Sometimes I think we're afraid that others will think we're kind of ooshy gooshy airy fairy if we're too grateful.

Thanksgiving Day of 2009 in the U.S. has just passed and I know that I didn't express my thanks for a single thing on that day. Come on. I mean I had one entire day actually dedicated to the opportunity to be grateful and I didn't use it.

I could have been grateful for my family, my friends, the turkey, the GREAT bottle of wine, the fact that I didn't have to cook the turkey for the first time in many years or any one of 100 other things. I remember thinking that it would be nice if we did some real thanks giving as a group but I was too embarrassed to suggest it. What would people think of me? Ooshy gooshy. Airy fairy.

Ok. That's all over with. This page on my website is going to become my gratitude journal. I'm going to share my gratitude for everything with you and I'm going to commit to doing it everyday. I hope I'll be able to keep that commitment. If I miss a day, I'll be grateful for two things the next day. Here goes.

I am so grateful for the good night's sleep I had last night. I didn't even wake up to peepee. That's quite a feat.

I am grateful for the wonderful yoga class I had yesterday evening. That's probably why I slept so well last night.

That's two things in one day. Woohoo. Good thanking. More to come.

Gratitude - For a safe journey
by: Meg Colby

We journeyed to Africa last month. It was wonderful. And I am so grateful for the beauty I experienced; for the way I stayed healthy on the trip; for the gentle journey I had; for my safe return to my beautiful every day life.

The Fellowship's Funding
by: Meg Colby

I am grateful for my relationship with an organization called the Fellowship of Universal Guidance - shortened to FOUG. My first true spiritual teachers founded this organization and I have been blessed to have their teachings in my life since the early 1980s. Recently they have been having money problems. In June of 2009, I did an energy clearing relating to this issue for them. Shortly after that, they were able to sell their very valuable property in the Los Angeles area and move their operation to a less expensive location. I am so grateful that they were able to make these changes because this will allow the Fellowship continue to do its very valuable spiritual work.

My Visit to the Dentist
by: Meg Colby

I went to the dentist yesterday. Now why would I be grateful for that? Well, I love my dentist. She's such a nice person. She gave me three shots and I never felt a single one of them. I'm grateful for that. She fixed two teeth and now I don't have to worry about cavities there anymore. I'm grateful for that. And I could afford to pay for my own care. For that I am truly grateful.

Blessed Solitude
by: Meg Colby

I am grateful for my solitude this week. My partner is out of town. I'm grateful to have the house to myself. For me, there is an internal spaciousness which happens in solitude that cannot happen when anyone else (no matter how much you love that person) is around. So I am grateful for my solitude this week and I will be grateful when my partner returns.

Sharing the oils
by: Meg Colby

Last night a friend from Texas stayed with us. We shared our essential oils with her. And why am I grateful for this? Because the more I share the oils, the more I heal the planet. And I am truly grateful for every opportunity I receive to heal our planet. Many blessings to all who read this.

Kitty cats and yoga
by: Meg Colby

I'm so grateful that I have gotten back to my yoga classes. It's really helping me increase my strength and flexibility. Duh! How did I forget that?

And I'm grateful for my kitty Sammy. She follows me around and always wants to be where I am. She's over on the chair a couple of feet away from me just purring and kneading her lamby-pie blanket. What a sweetie she is.

Driving Gratitude
by: Meg Colby

I drove though the snow in Flagstaff yesterday pulling a camper. Harrowing experience. Near panic attack. So what's to be grateful for? I made it. Not without incident though. Among other things, I got stuck in a snowbank in the parking lot of a restaurant where we stopped for a little while. Guess what?! Three people came out to help us get unstuck. Did I ask? No. Am I grateful? Yes. Indeed, I am grateful.

Mountains in the snow
by: Meg Colby

This morning, I woke up very early. Too early I thought. But I headed right to my home office (big gob of gratitude), opened the blinds and looked out to the clouds hovering over the mountain (another big gob of gratitude) and saw the snowflakes starting to fall. How beautiful!

Gratutude on Tuesday
by: Anonymous

I'm getting ready to go deliver groceries to people who can't get out of the house to get their own groceries. I'm so grateful for my strong body that lets me be able to do such a thing.
