And, more than likely, your action will have to be taken from your present business or place of employment. And it will probably have to be taken with people and things in your present environment. Your actions must be taken where you are – not where you are not. You can’t take action in the past. You can’t take action in the future. You can only take action in the present moment. You can only take action where you are right now. And don’t give any thought to whether you like what you’ve done in the past. It’s done. Just do today’s work to the best of your ability. Don’t try to do tomorrow’s work today. There’ll be plenty of time for that tomorrow. And don’t wait for the environment around you to change to begin your work. Begin your work and the environment will change. Simply hold your vision of yourself in a better environment, begin your work with purpose and conviction, with all your mind and all your heart and the environment will change.
Don’t waste any time looking for some strange and wonderful thing to do as a first step to getting rich. More than likely, you’ll be doing much the same thing as you’ve done in the past. It’s just that you’ll be doing it in the CERTAIN WAY, which will be sure to make you rich.
If it is your sense that you are currently engaged in a business that is not right for you, don’t wait till you get into the right business before you begin to act. Don’t feel discouraged and depressed. No one is so deeply involved in the "wrong" business that it is impossible to get into the right business.
Hold the vision of yourself in the right business. Maintain it as your purpose that you will get into the right business. And hold on to the faith that you will get into and are getting into the right business. But take all your action in your present business because that is where you are NOW. Use your present business as the means of getting a better one. Use your present environment as the means of getting into a better one. Your vision, if it is held strongly enough and with enough faith and purpose, will cause the all-that-is to move toward you and to move the right business toward you. And, your action, when performed in the CERTAIN WAY, will inevitably cause you to move toward the right business.
If you are working for someone else and you truly feel that you must change jobs to get what you want, don’t just "project" your thought into space and assume that you have done your work and now you will just wait till the new job shows up. If you do this, the new job probably won’t just show up. What you must do is to actually see yourself in your new job while, at the same time, continuing to act to the best of your ability with faith and purpose in your current job. Your vision of your new job and the faith that it will materialize will impress the all-that-is to bring the new job toward you and your action in your current environment will move you toward the job.
In closing this chapter, it’s time to add another element to our working hypothesis: There is a thinking stuff from which all things are made, and which, in its original state, permeates, penetrates and fills the interspaces of the universe. A thought in this substance produces the thing that is imaged by the thought.
You can form things in your thoughts and by impressing your thoughts upon the formless substance, upon the all-that-is, you can cause the thing you are thinking about to be created. But in order to do this, you must move from the competitive mind to the creative mind. You must form a clear mental picture of what you want, hold this picture in your thoughts with the fixed purpose to get what you want and the unwavering faith that you will get what you want and close your mind to anyone or anything that tries to shake your purpose, dim your vision or extinguish your faith.
To get what you want, you must act NOW with people and things in your present environment.
