A lot.

In many cultures, the later years of life are the years spent in awakening or enhancing one's spiritual awareness. One of the things that allows a culture to support such activity is its support of its elders.

Are you going to work as long as you can? Or are you thinking of taking an early retirement? Will you stay right at home or look for another location for the coming years? Somewhere in the states? Or maybe in Costa Rica? Or in Mexico? Do you wonder where the best retirement locations are?

What kind of plans have you made for your later years? Is your social security retirement the basis of your future? If you've planned well, that may be enough. And a lot of folks did spend a lot of years doing their retirement planning. But some didn't.

Whether you did or didn't, one thing will eventually be true for each American who reaches the age of 65. At least that's the way it looks right now in the early part of the year 2010. It really is hard to tell how long this will be case but I do hope it will be a very long time.

That one thing is Medicare - one of the most widely used and least understood programs in the history of this country.
