Stress Relief Headquarters

Before you continue learning about STRESS,
take a second to sign up for my monthly SpiritZine.

This is a HUGE subject in today's world. And maybe you're wondering just what it has to do with spirituality. Well as you can probably tell if you've spent any time at all on this site, in my view, everything has to do with spirituality and certainly anything such as overwhelming stress and panic attacks that can interfere with your ability to communicate with the spiritual part of your being fall into this category.

Wikipedia says that "Stress is a biological term which refers to the consequences of the failure of a human or animal body to respond appropriately to emotional or physical threats to the organism, whether actual or imagined. It is the autonomic response to environmental stimulus.

It includes a state of alarm and adrenaline production, short-term resistance as a coping mechanism, and exhaustion. It refers to the inability of a human or animal body to respond. Common symptoms include irritability, muscular tension, inability to concentrate and a variety of physical reactions, such as headaches and accelerated heart rate."

Even when your world is running well, there are the normal everyday difficulties in your life. You're so used to most of them that you may no longer even notice them.

Let's name some of them: traffic, smog, your boss, your kids, your spouse, the leaking roof, dandelions in the front yard, the flat tire you had on the way home, the possibility that you could lose your job tomorrow, that phone call to your mother you have yet to return. You're probably getting my drift by now.

Well, ok, you say, a lot of those things you named just seem normal in my life. If they cause problems or bring on a panic attack what am I supposed to do about them? I can't change them. I can't get rid of them. What do I do about them? How do I handle them?

Well, maybe a better question would be how do I handle me when these things come into my life? How do I handle me when I feel a panic attack coming on? How do I keep going with my life while dealing with panic attacks?

And, for sure, these things I mentioned above and many more just like them and some things much worse than these are going to come into your life. So what ARE you doing to do about them?

Let's say that you just changed jobs as a result of a promotion. You wanted the promotion. You wanted the money and prestige that came with the promotion. But you were not prepared for the additional stress and responsibility. You were not prepared for the anger that your former co-workers would display toward you because you got the promotion and they didn't. You weren't prepared for the extra hours you are now expected to work and the impact that is having on your family.

How will you handle all these new issues that came with the new job? How will you handle to panic attacks that arise whenever you think about these things? I'm sure you can find some tips to help you avoid panic attacks but what you'd really rather do is stop the panic attacks altogether.

Stress Panic attacks are real and they can be disabling for some people. Dealing with panic attacks can become the central focus of the lives of sufferers. For some, these attacks show up as claustrophobia which means they can't get on an airplane or into an elevator or even, sometimes, into a car. Many people can't drive because of panic attacks. They have a very real fear that they will black out or get the shakes. Some people use drugs to control the attacks but the drugs affect other aspects of their lives and there is the possibility of addiction always looming over their heads.

Some who have suffered from stress and panic attacks for many years no longer care what causes their panic attacks. They just want to find a cure. They just want to be able to do somethings when the signs and symptoms of panic attacks begin to show up again. And here's a way to stop a panic attack in its tracks.

If you are only feeling slightly stressed out here's a way that you can help yourself through these stressful moments with a guided meditation. It'll only take a few moments and you'll feel much better at the end of the process. Just find a quiet place and let yourself relax with this.
